I have a vintage gear-drive Exmark 48" walk-behind with a Kawasaki FC420V. It runs strong and then will bog for a second or two like it's going to die, then back to full power. It seems as if it wants to backfire. I've changed fuel filter and blown out fuel system. Anyone have ideas about what could be causing this problem?

If it`s a twin cylinder, check the carb. vent tube. You might have to re-route the tube downward away from any heat and air flow. It may be causing a vaccum to the carb. and making it sound like its starving for fuel. It`s the yellow tube on top of the carb. Maybe this might help.
