I have a John Deere 717 with a 19HP Kawasaki that has started to run poorly as of late. It doesn't rev up to full RPM while operating. I took carb apart and cleaned. No luck. I installed new fuel filter and cleaned lines. When it is running with a load on it, if you shut the fuel shut off valve, it revs up to full power just before it dies. Can anyone help me? Thanks so much. Theo

Hi Theo, no doubt the problem is rectified, but I have a JD 737 with a Kawasaki engine. I had a carburation problem a few days after I picked up the mower. The engine wouldn't't start. I took it back to the dealer where the mechanic ended up spraying some ether into the carb to get the engine running. Smoke was pouring out of exhaust. It turned out that the problem was a "kink" in the clear, plastic vent tubing. The clip that holds the tubing in place put a bend in the tubing. Replacing the tubing fixed the problem.
