Keeping the woods out of the yard?

    Hi All,

I just picked up 300 feet of col-met steel edging for a project in my yard. I'm going to be edging a couple hundred feet along a row of pine trees in my yard and then filling the bed with mulch. On the back side of these trees is a strip about 5 feet wide that we have been mowing. I'm considering not running edging behind the trees.

I'm thinking I should put the mulch down and since this back edge is one you won't really see (because its behind the trees), I'm considering not edging it and instead just spraying round-up where the grass meets the edge of the mulch. The woods and weeds are going to want to tend to grow into that area we've been mowing.

Alternatively, I could edge the back side and leave enough room to run the mower between the wood line and the edge of the mulch bed. But...that means buying more edging, too. I've dropped almost a grand already on edging and mulch.

    What would you guys do?
