So -- It's July and I do this guy's lawn twice and he owes me $85 ($50 first time with cleanup and $35 two weeks later.) He never pays even though I invoice him through e-mail and snail-mail.

In Sept, I go to his house and he asks me to wait until the 11th. I tell him that he can have until the 15th but, I would have to take him to small claims court if I haven't rec'd payment by then. He goes ape with the "you don't have to threaten ME, man."

I file an $85 in small claims court (court costs=$60) on October 15th. Note: - The court will award you court costs in addition to the original claim as long as you prove your claim.

Court date was set for Nov 11th.

Two days ago, the guy went to jail on unrelated charges. Turns out he had an e-bay scam and officers went to the house to get him. Upon a search, they also found a stack of counterfiet $100 bills.

Looks like I'm going to be out my $140 -- ROFL.

I just lost $270.00 in a Raw Deal.

My loss was due to my ignorance though.

    Good luck with your situation.

4 Leaf sorry bout your bad luck. Just happy to see that you can laugh about it. We all haven been taken once or twice, I suppose it is the nature of doing business of any sort.

It's a good thing he didn't pay you with the funny money!
