I know it's not commercial equipment, but I bought one of these at Lowe's today, because I just got a lawn with a lot of hedges (it took me 2 hours to trim them today). I wasn't sure if the batteries would last long enough, but they were doing a special with one free battery, so I figured 2 hours is probably enough battery time for most hedge trimming jobs I've done. I was thinking I could always charge one while using the other one, if it was more than 2 hours (more on that later).
I couldn't really afford a gas hedge trimmer because I'm not comfortable buying any gas-powered equipment (with the exception of lawn mowers) that's not Echo, Stihl, Shindaiwa, etc. I've never had any luck with cheaper brands. There was a cheap electric for $35, but it was only 17". The next size up was $70. I didn't really want to spend $70 on a hedge trimmer and still have to mess with the cord, so I decided to try a cordless one.
I have no idea how long it will last, but it worked pretty good today. The batteries lasted about an hour. The only issue I had was when I tried to charge the battery right after use, a red light came on on the charger. I think this means the battery was too hot. So either I have to let them cool off first or I can't charge them in the sun. But normally don't I will have more than 2 hours of hedge trimming in a typical day, usually much less.
I noticed they had a pole saw and chain saw. I might consider one or both of those in the future, if my hedge trimmer holds up, since I already have 2 batteries now.
