I have a 44" toro with a 15 hp Kohler motor that was involved in a little mishap by an inexperienced employee. The mower was crashed into a chain link fence on a steep enbankment. No damage was done to the the mower, but while we were trying to retrieve it, the motor stopped running, and now the pull rope is locked up.

Did the motor seize up due to the extreme angle the mower was at (lack of oil?) or is there is something simple that I'm overlooking. Please help!

pull the starter cover off and pull the cord..if it rotates, your motor is seized up...if you can't pull the cord with the cover off, that's your problem...but, it sounds like to me the motor is seized up...

it wouldn't happen to have a low oil alert or is that only on hondas?

I did something similar to an old Briggs and Stratton, I got it caught in a chicken coop (dont ask  ) that the kill bar stayed in the "on" position, with the deck at about a 45 degree angle. By the time I could get the kill bar loose, the engine had already started smoking, then it seized up on me. Thank God it was just a cheapo Yard Machines 22 inch! :D So yeah, sounds like you just seized your engine up. That sucks.
  5. 1st thing to check is starter rope like goodbeus said.

also check gap at armature to flywheel-sometimes a severe jolt will close the gap and engine wont turn.

    Is clutch disengaging?

only other thing I can think of right now is to remove plug and make sure cylinder is free of carbon and or unburnt fuel

when started shroud is off put wrench on flywheel and see if you can get engine to turn
