Ive got a 25hp kohler command changing head gaskets. While it was being disassembled (NOT BY ME) 3 of the 4 exhaust studs were broke flush with head. They have been worked on,drilled out and are not breaking free.

I can purchase some newer heads from a friend for $20, but part numbers are different. The heads look identical in every way, valves, springs same. Will a 23 head fit my 25?

Please tell us the 2 different part numbers. Some of us are able to run numbers and have updated part numbers to see if there any superseded part numbers.

The only insight I can add, which I learned from the pro's here..is that even though look the same the heads from one kohler to another do have to be from same vertical or Horzontal..can't use vertical engine on horizontal and vice-verca. Something about the oil drain back hole is different location on horizontal than vertical. So be sure same that way too. otherwise see what others here say on it.

mowisme is correct ^^^^^^ , A head from a Courage vertical engine will not work on a Command horizontal.......

I got a set of heads for my ch25 from ebay that were actuallyfor a cv model. I was able to drill a new oil drain hole in the correct spot and now they work.
OP, sorry im not sure about the different hp heads swapping. If they look identical I would think they would work.
