I have a kohler command on a craftsman lawn mower. Will starting the engine at idle or slightly higher hurt any thing? And will runing the engine about half throttle when I am just pullng my lawn cart hurt the engine? I know it has an oil pump, and I have never had an engine with an oil pump so I don't know if rpm's effect the oil pump or not. Reason I ask is the throttle lever is the type the has the choke built in where you put it at full throttle to choke. So I ran a piece of stiff wire down to the choke linkage so I could choke it and start it at less than full throttle. It is also easier on the starter because It starts alot faster with the choke and low throttle. With out choke it takes a couple seconds longer to start.
