I found a Kubota 2003 ZD 21 with the 60 in. deck and 450 hours. I personally know the owner who just used it on his lawn since it was new. He wants $4500 for it. Do you think this is a good buy? I have read about some transmission trouble these mowers have had so I'm a little worried about that. Any advice would be great. Thanks

The 21 was said to be a little underpowered. With a 60 inch deck that would probably be true. I have no knowledge of this, just what I have read.I looked at the Kubota's and was reading a lot of info on them before a bought a Scag. But $4500 is a good price, since it was owned by a home owner. You'll just have to cut before the grass gets too high.

I owned this very machine for four years and it never felt underpowered to me - ever.

For $4,500.00, the mower is WELL worth it. :usflag:

Thanks for the input. I'm definitely considering buying it. I always thought it would be neat to have a diesel mower, and it sounds like this is a reliable, well built machine. I'll let you know if I do.
