I have a customer who is not happy with the half dirt and half grass that lives under their second story deck. This area gets some rain but not enough sun light. Do you have any suggestions on what can be done to this area? Other than mulching or covering this area with stone, is there any other options?

    Rock.

You could make it attractive with river slicks, just be sure to kill out existing grass and put a weed cloth barrier down first.

    What about liriope?

    Moss?

    Euonymus?

    Hosta?

  3. I would try Creeping Jenny, durable gound cover, beauitiful color and very hearty, but only if it is a perennial where you live. Rocks attract slugs and snails really bad.
