So my best trim mower blew today. My 22261 lawnboy. was forced to just go to Sears and pick up a new one. I ended up getting the Craftsman limited w/ the honda motor w/ 3yr warranty. My question is i still have my lawnboy 10324. which parts can i tranfer over to the 10323? we would like to swap the gas tank, 3speed tranny and whatever else i can salvage. i"m not going to get any money out of the blown 22261 so like to salvage all i can..

you can transfer either of those duraforce engines over to youe 22261. i know cause i have done so on 2 . its well worth the work and isnt hard at all

What defines "blew" for you? Is the crank bearings gone? Are the walls scuffed? How about installing a new short block?

I had all kinds of problems with the DuraForce engine. In four years, I installed three short blocks.

Here is a link on one of the installs. Cycle down a few posts for pics of the short block install.

Yeah i def. like the 22261. I started it and it started fine but started shaking something crazy then turned the choke down and it died. crank it again let it run on choke then oil started spitting out then I turned it off. 3rd pull started then saw the oil then tiny metal shavings started coming out the bottom....

I read that somewhere. something about changing the mounting plates or something. Is there a write up on it? I cant afford to loose both mowers w/ me testing waters swapping them

yes use 22261 mounting plate and set the belt pully at the same height as old 22261 engine . the rest is easy

comparing the 10324 to the 22261 the 10324 has the raised deck and the mounting holes were different from the 22261. I would love the swap the motor off the 10324 onto the 22261. Is the a write up or someone provide a walk through for me please.. It will def. be a winter restoration project

do you'll think i should put the motor off the 10324 on the 22261 or invest in a new shortblock($200+other things that might be worn/broke) for the motor blown on the 22261? I already bought a new honda mower so if i coud fix the 22261 i could sell the 10324 but i want to make sure fixing the 22261 engine would be worth it or throw the 10324 engine on and call it a day..

As lawn boy dan said changing the shortblocks is not hard, Ive done it before too. 22261s are great mowers, i use them a good amount. I would personally swap the 10324 engine on there, and lookout for a new shortblock. Ive got a new shortblock stored away for my 22261
