Like I said, I wouldn't have even agreed to do this one if not for her son being a good customer.
If she were a complete stranger and I went to do an estimate, I would have passed. Not worth stressing over - plenty of people who don't care about making a mess who would be happy to do it.
I don't care one way or the other. It's not my ideal property - I prefer the tiny ones now. The only reason I will do this one is because the son (who is paying) will pay whatever I ask. Not that I'm going to screw him over, but I can price it to make it worthwhile and he will pay it.
If she doesn't want me to continue, they can get back on the schedule with the "pros" who do all the other houses.
Apparently she and her son are not the only ones unhappy with the maintenance crew that works this development.
Last week, I heard 2 people complaining to the crew that was working a few houses down, then a few dog walkers had stopped within earshot, and I could hear them complaining about the lawn mowing people. Another woman walked up the street and asked "Are you with ABC???" I chuckled, "No, No I'm not." She said "Oh. OK", and walked away. She looked like she had a complaint.
Then today, a guy walking by asked if I was with ABC "or are you mowing for someone privately?"
I said, "I was asked to mow here, so that's what I'm doing."
He said, "Looks good! I think a lot of people are not happy with the guys who do the development."
Oh boy.
