LazerZ X-Series E-Gov EFI'd Big Block

    Traditionally, Kohler to Kohler, carb vs EFI is usually closer to $1000 more. That's on the mower and often times the bare engine from the parts department.

    The fuel pump and O2 sensor are about $200

    When I bought my Gravely I thought it was a $300 upgrade for Kohler efi. I may be wrong. But I remeber I was seriously considering it becuase it wasnt much more. Im just not a Kohler fan.

    Just pulled out my Gravely catalog, its a $500 upgrade from kawi carb to kohler efi on the 452 on the 460 its $300.

    I like the idea and would look hard at one too when I purchase my next ZTR.

    Even with the projected savings in fuel I would be worried about repair costs. I do all my own wrenching on everything I own. A cable brakes. No problem other a few well chosen words and disliking what the dealer charges me for the part they need to order and it's all better. But this system more likely than not would need tow out of the yard and dropped at my dealer at $90 + an hr once out of warranty for them to practice diagnosing the system. Four hours later and a couple of hundred in parts = a lot of gas money.

    No way I'd buy first year out. I'll let those braver than me do that and report back their findings.

    That's what warranty is for!

    Every other part of the mower is proven Lazer. Nothing, other than the engine, is new.

    Wish they could eek out another gallon or so of fuel capacity. (That goes for every manufacturer!)

    They don't show the specs for the CV 940 or Cv980 EFI's on Kohlers site, but the carbed versions are -

    CV940 is true rated at 30.9 hp (J1995)

    CV980 is true rated at 34.2 hp (J1995).

    I just want to know how well it will really perform. If i am mowing a solid acre of tall, thick, wet spring grass, will i ever take it off the "max" setting. Probably not. And when the grass isnt that hard to cut through, you can usually fly through it, and as long as the quality of cut is still there you shouldn be fine. I know i go as fast as i can while making it look perfect. I know this year i am going exmark, and im pretty sure i will stay with a carburated Kawi. But if this system proves itself and i demo a few, then i may go that way in the future.

    The last time Exmark had exclusive technology and slowed the rps down on a deck was the Triton. We all know how that worked out.
