I'd use half inch plywood and 2x4s. Build a frame with the 2x4s about 4 feet above the top of the bed of the truck, attach plywood with 2 1/2 inch decking screws to the frame on the front, and sides, then take the tailgate off, and use another piece of plywood with 2 16x4 vents covered in mesh and a hole for the discharge to shoot into the box, and attach that to the frame with hinges so you can either swing it out of the way when you are ready to unload, or take it off completely. If you are not planning on getting on the highway and/or interstate you could take the box up another 2 to 4 feet. To give yourself quite a bit more room. That is about the simplest box you could ask for

what about the top of the box? do you use a tarp or plywood?

I used a tarp on mine, that way you dont run the risk of having the top blow off.

Except for if you did a full back panel. If you closed off the back completely then you would want to plywood the top to keep the air from building up in the box and ripping the rear panel off.

we are out of east providence, but service all of RI..

your box is exactly like i need to build it...i dont have a dump insert though.

i currently have side boards but will probably remove them for the box.

I built my leafbox frame with 6 chainlink fence posts and toprail. I have a 94 ford f250 which has 6 holes in the top of the bedsides. I welded and bolted the frame together and then built the outer shell with 1/2" plywood. Painted then lettered I had a total of $400 in it. I did 3 cutouts that are about 1'x 2' with chickenwire and the top is also plywood. I tried to post pics but had trouble??
