Ok im looking for a new rider and can't decide it looks like everyone likes Exmark here but here is what im looking at.
Lesco 54" 23hp kaw,$6195 Exmark Lazer Z Hp 52" 23hp kaw $6898 and last but not least Scag Tiger Cub 52" 23hp kaw $7399 they all have there on special features and bells and whistles but the main parts are about the same but the price. Lesco has them beat there but nobody ever talks about them so is there something wrong with them. I have a lesco 36" wb hydro and love it and went with it because of $$$$.

Thanks

Service, Service, Service.
Lesco usually doesn't have the service the other two have.
Now you should be able to get a better price on the Scag.
I am a Scag man and have been for over 14 years. Love them. Way over built. Hold up well. But look for the service and try to get a few more bucks off any mower this time of year.
Good Luck.

BTW if price is a main issue right now. Scag has their 48" at $5995.00 and just so you know a 52" is only 9% more efficient than a 48". I have both 48 Tiger Cub and 52 Turf Tiger.

Not a huge Lesco fan but now, if price is a driving concern, is the time to start looking at the demos. In the next couple of monthes they will start to unload them, some at real low prices. Last year got a 52 belt walk behind with 17 Kaw electric start for 800. Best thing is it had only 8 hours on it. Plan on a trip down to the dealer next week to stake out another. Just wish they cut as well as my exmark ;)

Demo the Scag and Exmark at the same time on the same day. Mow your front with one and the back with the other. I did this just a couple of months ago with a 48" Hp and 48" Tiger Cub. The big differences you will be able to tell is...
Scag- Built like a brick crapper. Dependable. Service out the butt.
Exmark-Comfort, Smoother Hydro feel, quieter, mulching kit works awesome, service is same as Scag.

You can already tell that I bought the Exmark. The difference in comfort, sound, and cut sold me for sure. The Scag guy came back to pick the TCub up and got on the HP and agreed with most of what I said. He told me that when he tries to sell against Exmark, what he pushes is solid build and service.

Both companies will bring the machines to you and leave them overnight if you want. You won't be disappointed with either machine.
This is my opinion only and wish to not offend any Scag owners. I still have a 36" Scag WB.

I have a Lesco 60 inch Z2. It's been a good machine. Something seems to be wrong with one of the pumps... one side goes real slow in reverse. In forward speed the weaker pump goes a little slower than the other side. I'll get it checked out at the end of the season. I like the Z2. I'd buy another one.

I don't know if you have good striping grass in your area, but Scags stripe really well with no striping kit. We have the 48" Tiger Cub, and it's a great machine. We have an Exmark dealer here in town, but went out of town to buy the Scag. Exmark dealer had really poor service.

Scag Scag Scag

2 Scags here and I love them both. 61" inch Tiger and 36" Walk Behind.

But you might want to look at a Hustler Z. I demoed one and I liked it. Very nice ride and the controls were great. If the Hustler and the Turf Tiger were cars.... I would call the Tiger a 3/4 ton pickup and the Hustler was more like a Mustang. Both are nice vehicles but the truck is much tougher.

Lesco and Cub Cadet are owned by MTD. Exmark is owned by Toro. Great Dane is owned by John Deere. And Great Dane bought the Scag Z rider designs, so its basically the same design that John Deere uses also. Must be a good design. Scags are built really well, and easy to maintain. If you are going to use the mower you should think about comfort. But if you are going to have crews using the mower you should know, people don't care about things unless it is their own. The Scag has a great cut, comfortable, easy to maintain and will last a long time. I would go with the Scag.
