Looking at the Ztwo line. They seem to be a lot less expensive than other commercial Zs, (nearly $3k less than the Hustler Super Z). Just wondering about the cut, performance and durability.
    For those who have/had Z2s;
    How is the cut?
    How is the performance?
    What problems have you had?
How does it compare to other ZTRs?

    Thanks for all experienced opinions/comments.

You can read a lot of my posts.

I for one avoided them for a long time... being afraid of the price and not understanding "how Lesco could sell them cheaper".

I like most people was leary about the whole thing and really wouldn't give them a fair chance.

NOW, if I could go back... like at least 5 years or so... oh what I would give to be able to do that and know what I know now. Could have saved thousands upon thousands of dollars, hours and hours of deck cleaning and maintenance, and more importantly a ton of stress, headache and downtime.

I can honestly say I would have probably never given the Ztwo's a chance had I just not gotten totally fed up with the sorry "Hometown dealers" in this area and the name-brand mowers.

    To answer your questions

    * The all-around cut quality in all cutting conditions is un-matchable
    * Cuts as beautiful as the Lazer HP or any other eXmark in prime conditions/turf
    * Leaves them FAR BEHIND when the going gets rough, tough, tall and wet

    * The performance is just fine
    * Holds slopes better than any other gas ZTR I've been on.
    * Wouldn't hurt to have more than 25 hp on the 60" when mulching HARD.

    * Bought my first one in 2005, and running full time... hasn't been in the shop yet
    * Nothing at all beyond rinky-dink nick-nak normal stuff
    * All parts covered under warranty and shipped to me "no questions asked"
    * Most parts dropped at my feet by the UPS man the next morning

It's the best cutting and most reliable mower I have ever owned. In 2 season, I have had only one real breakdown that took the mower out of service. An idler pulley bearing siezed... which I think is the only moving part on the machine that doesn't have a grease fitting. It was a sealed bearing that just wore out and failed... I think a little more than 2 months out of warranty. And I think that happened on the last lawn of the day on the back-40... and I think I smelled the belt burning on the last pass, which alerted me to the problem.

I'd have to dig out the service record to be sure of it. I can't even remember if I suffered any real machine downtime... again, I'd have to check. But Lesco stepped to the plate, covered the part out of warranty, and if I'm not mistaken I had parts the next morning.

Oh... and I forgot to add the reason why Lesco can sell them cheaper.

The mowers are made by Commercial Turf Products in Ohio. The factory was a joint venture between Lesco and MTD... Now Lesco and Cub Commercial.

Since this is the case, through Lesco you basically purchase factory-direct. There is no typical distribution, distribution profits, or the higher retail profits dealers need. They go factory direct from the Factory to the Lesco stores.

That in itself accounts for the price difference. There's nothing 'cheap' about them. In fact, if you take the time to go over the whole machine well, you'll find everything on them is as good if not better than what's on the other machines out there. It's honestly built stronger than the majority of other brands out there.

Well, unless you find one that's been sitting a while, they pulled those off the market last year sometime. Iv'e heard horrible things about them... I thought I wanted one too, but never heard a good word about them. If you do find one, I hear you can pick them up CHEAP.

I have one, Its ok but it is heavy and the tires are to narrow. It was the same price as a pistol grip hydro so I said what the hell. It's ok. If I happened to get a deal on another I would pick it up.

The kawasaki products that I use are great. I dont think you can beat them, especially in the weight dept. They do suck the fuel though.
