You should google "lightning sand glass". There's probably a nice piece of fused material under the hole there.

I couldn't tell you, thats a picture i found. It looks like it hit right where that guy in the tan pants left foot is. You would think it would blast a flagstick apart though. It probably did, thats a mighty clean flag in that pic.
I haven't seen a strike on a green but i have seen one that was twice as big on a bermuda tee and it sterilized the soil in that area. It probably took 2 or 3 months to come back. And thats a long time for bermuda.
I was thinking along the same lines, though lightning can certainly do surprising things.
