Do any of you know of a 3156 lamp that last longer than 2000 hrs? I've been using the 3156LL by CEC industries, and my distributor is telling me that the life is 2000 hrs. I've never really been a fan of this lamp/socket, but after thousands of installs using them before realizing my error I'm now stuck with the service issue. Anyone with a better manufacturer or suggestion?

Chris I dont use many 3155 / 3156 lamps anymore, just enough to service the odd kichler path light that I have out there (those that have not broken, failed, faded, or otherwise fallen apart) That being said, I use Sylvania lamps and they seem to last very well. I only wish the silly plastic socket that they fit into would stand up to even one lamp change without breaking!

Lower the voltage to the lamp. If you cant lower the voltage, add some length of wire between the fixture and the source.

I went thru a bunch of these rather quick when Cast switched to wagner lamps so stay away from thoes. I now buy sylvania 3156k LL from my local discount auto or napa for half the price of the dist.

When you do run em Anthony is right just under 11v... 10.6 is great with good output and seems to be better life. I now have a couple like this coming up on 2 years with little probs

I just realised that the sylvania 3155 and 3156 lamps are in fact KR (long life "krypton" rather then standard incandescent) rated. If you have been using standard 3155/56 lamps Chris then you definately want to try the KR units.

the ones i buy say 3156k LL on the packages. They come in a bubble pack of 2 lamps. The guys always look at me funky when i come to the counter with their entire stock.

Same here no problems at all. About two-three years based on dusk to midnight.

lol... yeah sometimes I wanna say "man what are you lookin at these things are crunchy and good with ketchup"

I noticed cast went back to the sylvanias i think... wagner (grey base) popped real quick for most of my paths to the point i tossed the bulbs out when I installed some new orleans last time and bought my own sylvanias.

I think I need to order one of thoes MR powered paths from sundown and see what the hype is about.
