I am installing my first controller where it is about 15 ft away from a power source. It is at the owners request, despite the issue with a short power cord. It is a hunter pro-c.

Have any of you a source for suitable longer cords, or splice the cord even? I really do not want to do that, and if I do, it will be done right.

Maybe you could use an extention cord . Or lenghten the cable from the transformer , we do it all the time just buy the correct connectors .

i will prob end up using the extension cord/wire and splicing the two together to make it work. I am sure they wont have an outlet run for it etc. Also, They would not want to actually use an extention cord, but then again, it is behind shelves etc, so no one would ever see it, hmmmmmmmmm.

might go that route now i think of it. i can make it look nice, if ever it was to be seen again, lol

Buy some wire, put an end on it and wire the clock.

Make sure you put a cord stop on the cord at the controller.

Using a wall-wart does give you flexibility, since it's all low voltage to the controller.

If it is an indoor controller the plug is also a transformer to 24vac. Splice the wires and use some spare wire for valve runs. We have done it a couple 1000 times, so far so good. We also use the plug by the garage door motor. No reason to be taking up plugs on the wall.

I have a cord i am using to splice, it is already black so it will match well. Is there not a reason to able to at least order longer corded versions for additional price>? Seems if this becomes an issue, I would rather not have to splice wires.

If this becomes an issue at any future installs, just order a internally transformed Pro-C and make your cord to whatever length needed.

In situations like this I've used an outdoor power cord and cut the female end off and wired to the controller.
