Looking at a Toro w/b

I'm looking at a 52 inch 17 hp w/b T bar, belt driven, with a mulch kit and sulky. The guy used it maybe 17 hours last year but could'nt. get used to driving it. He said he paid around $ 4000.00 and would let it go for $ 3000.00 +/-.
Is this a good price. I haven't seen it yet or ever driven one. We have always used a tractor on are hilly lawns , and it is tired and we need a new mower.
Any input would be great.

thanks; Rene

I have the same mower but i dont have the mulch kit. I love my mower. The only thing i can say negative about it is that a gear drive will free wheel down hill. You will have to ride the brakes alot unless you mow across the hill. It didnt take me but a few minutes to get used to the t-bar controls and that is compareable to what i paid for my mower(4k) last spring

I have an old style 52 Toro w 18 Koh. 01 or 02 Toro came out

with a new 52 w verticle height adjusters and the deck symetrical

For 04 they shortened the mower and offset the deck to the left.

also changed the balance. Ed
