If you need a GOOD chipper, look for a used chuck n duck, they're quite safe, and do a great job at what they're intended for. an altec, whisper chipper, mitts & merril and you can get them failry cheap. those little pull behind chippers, IMO, are far cries from a good machine like a chuck n duck. theres also the option of a 6" pull behind from vermeer, or morbark, but they dont do the job anywhere nearly as quick as a cnd can.

Drum chippers as previously mentioned are very fast and relatively cheap.Used ones can be had for as little as $2500 for a 4 0r 6 cly. model [ 6-9 inches or 12 inch capacity ] Also very easy & low maintance........its true you need alittle experance as not to get beat-up/ whipped by the branch ends, but soon enough you're a pro [ just step to the side ]...... :) payupPS. a good drum brush chipper 3-4 inch capacity can be had for under $2000 if you shop it out [ usally 20-25hp ]
