I have a Jacobsen Turf Rake (dethatcher/vertical mower) that was purchased new back in 1995. Does a great job dethatching fescue and/or preparing ground for reseeding.
    It came with a B&S 6 H.P. engine.
After having some problems with the engine I decided to replace the engine.
Usually I try to get one of the better engines if possible (Honda, Kohler, etc). I happened to be on the Northern Tool site and saw an engine I had never heard of before. Mfg. by LCT (Liquid Combustion Technology). A 6 H.P. was on sale for $149.99. I consider this really cheap for anything even close.
Since the machine doesn't get a lot of use I decided to try one.
Couldn't believe how easy it was to install. Perfect dimensions that matched the old B&S model. It even has a low oil shutdown switch.
Cranked on the first pull and sure seems to run well.
I'm sure it is probably made in China and really don't care. Just amazed at how well it seems to be made.
Even comes with a 2 yr. warranty and for $20 I was able to get an additional 2 years with Northern for replacement.
