I have an area in my front yard that is underneath 4 big oak trees. The area is on a steep hill and I am looking for a vine that grows low to the ground, spreads really fast and has no problem in shade. I want it to grow low enough to the ground so I don't have to use the string trimmer to cut the top off the vine a couple of times per year.

Let me know what your recommendations are.

I am not sure about your temps, but I like Vinca and Asian Jasmine. They will need trimmed every now and then but I really do not know of any vine that does not need trimmed. A good shade ground cover in my area that is not a vine is Mondo grass, but if you have a large area it could get expensive.
