it dont bother me as there is no business in it anyway here, everyone has so many pine trees around that they would never pay for the straw
in case you weren't aware, we are in the United States of America. If Lowes wants to spread mulch, so be it.:usflag:

Home Depot tried it once, or at least lawn services in general and it didn't catch on.
There is way more better things Lowes can be doing to increase their profit margins besides getting into lawn and landscape services.

I wouldn't get pine straw from them anyway. The stuff they stock is always full of sticks and other debris, I put down ten bales from Lowes for a client and I'm getting between eight and twelve sticks PER BALE. The next phase of the project I went to a wholesaler, and in fifty-five bales I got from them I had maybe had eight sticks and a half a pine cone, honestly. I have another client that decided to try pine straw this year and in the twenty five (and counting) bales that the job required I had maybe three.
I pay about $5 a bale as opposed to $3 a bale at Lowes but the quality is much better. My clients are paying for pine straw, not sticks.

yea like sell home improvement stuff, lol..
has anyone been into a pepboys lately? they got more non related automotive stuff then ive ever seen.. dirtbike, rc cars, atvs, mopeds...

I've actually migrated more towards Home Depot as every time I go in there I have someone come up to me and ask if I need any help. If I'm buying 25 bags of mortar, then you bet you can help!!!! And on top of it they actually act like they enjoy helping you.
I go into Lowes and it's like pulling teeth to get someone to help me. I still will shop there, but not as often as I had in the past, and most of the time it depends on what side of town I'm on.

I don't go to home depot, since there isn't one locally, but I often go to the local Lowes. I have seen the price for the pine straw and installation, but I guess Lowes also installs home furnishings, cabinets, refrigerators, etc. I guess they decided to do pine straw to.
Whats up with pine straw anyways? I was in Myrtle beach last week and saw that stuff for the first time. That stuff looks so bad. I can't believe people actually pay for it. 9 out of 10 places had pine straw in the beds down there. I threw up in my mouth every time I saw it.
I live in SC, and a lot of people here like pine straw,, but man I hate the stuff.. I prefer a nice cypress mulch any day.. To me straw is dirty and trailer park looking.
Oh and if Lowes wants to install it, I will give their number to a few of my straw customers.

This site is the first place I've seen people using pine needles, or "straw" as mulch. Yesterday I had to rake a bunch of pine straw out of real mulch, boy that was a PIA.
thats what I'm saying. It is such a pita getting pine needles up and people are paying to have it put down. I'm telling you man, when I was in myrtle beach it was EVERYWHERE. I had to ask someone what it was. The first thing I thought when I saw it was that it was pine needles but you could tell it wasnt there by accident.
Around here theres absolutely no market for it, I've never seen pine staw anywhere but on lawnsite, but i dont think it'll last, they try installations services and do shi*ty jobs at it, then stop doing it. I'm a home depot guy anyway though, closest lowes to me is like 40 mins away
Snowblowers too apparently, went in for a tow strap in the winter and saw like a dozen of them
