When you are doing your figuring for the number of mowings in a year, what does everyone use? 35, 40, etc....Thanks.

I guess that depends on where you live. If you mean weekly cuts I'm at 30-33 per year.

Here in Detroit area 29-30 weeks is a good season. Mid April through the first full week in November with regular weekly cuttings.

I cut all year long in California, so I generally plan for between 44-48 weekly cuts. I've never specified # of weekly cuts to a customer because it can vary depending on weather, et. al.

But, things are done differently out in California. ;)

For example, this has been a rather dry January for my parts, and I've ended up cutting several weekly lawns 5 times already. Now, if that continued I could conceivably cut 52 times this year. However, March is typically a very wet month and I might only get to my weekly customers 3 times. I've seen months around here where it was impossible to cut a weekly account more than twice in a month. Rare, but it has happened.

Where I am I figure 36 cuts per season, but it has been much drier than normal, so, yes,it does depend on different factors. I'm lucky to be cutting once a month right now. Thank God for comm. accounts.

How much different is the weather up in Washington than the weather down in Cali? Do you get more of a midwest/great north clime with snowfall and complete offseasons?
