Magnesium components next for trimmers?

I was browsing up some parts for my stihls and noticed they're offering trimmers built using magnesium parts for reducing weight (similar what they offer on some of their saws), but only in japan.

I know a guy who works for stihl and he said no such thing will be offered here, but they might make some parts like gear cases yet it's all made in Germany.

    A shame, the FS 2400 specs : 22cc 1.1hp and 8.6lbs.
OK the shaft is probably short for japs, but even with a longer one it would be light. The gear case and clutch/flywheel housing are made from magnesium, imagine if they made crankcase halves from it as well. They also have a 25cc model with 1.3hp and 9.7lbs.

A worthless thread, I know. But it may be the future for productive handheld's. What's the closest thing in terms of weight I could get ??

    Here's a pic of it

I'm confused by this thread. What is an FS 2400?

Stihl trimmers already have magnesium on their housings. Your friend needs to work somewhere else.
