What is the percent of mark up you add to materials you sell to your customers.

When I go to the local garden center they usally give me 20% off the retail price, then I add 10-15% on top of that which ends up giving me about a 30% mark up.

Is this kind of average or is it to low for my time spent.

Just wondering how anyone else does it.

    Thanks

Soil, mulch - 10 to 15% markup. The landscape suppliers give me about 5 to 10% discount.

For plants I'll go to a wholesale/ grower nursery and put 50% markup. Garden centres put 100% mark up on wholesale prices.

Potted colour (annuals) 50 to 100% and annual seedlings 10%.
