Ok several questions here. I advertise every year with door hangers. Now by this I mean they are rolled up in and then placed on the door. I get the standard 1% turn around. Ok, it's a new year and I want to change some things and one of them is giving my business a better look. So, I have done the website almost. Second I want better flyers. So, here is my question.

What do you think is the single most important thing to stick out at the customer for that brief second. It has been my name for now.

Other questions: Do you have a big flashy price, do you use color on your flyers, do you have yours rolled or do they actually have the hole and the custmer can see it right away. Any advice please. I might post my flyer up later if needed.

I suggest the Guerilla Marketing for Free. Check out his website too at http://www.gmarketing.com/ Use the ones with the holes. Yellow catches the eye. I think it was Walker Talker that did some awesome flyers last last year. Do a search. He put coupons on his for upselling services and it looked very professional.

Alrigtht I will do that. So, yellow catches the eye. Well it does when I am going through a school zone. I am sure everyone sees the annoying flyer on the door.

    Thanks for da info.

This is one book that every small business owner should have. Your headline should definitely grab their attention. They suggest using CALL TODAY or ACT NOW or LIMITED TIME OFFER. The idea is for them to pick up the phone quickly while you (your flyer) is still fresh in their minds. Get that book and get it now....you won't be disappointed.

I thought my fliers looked good too, but I think they looked too good. My theory is that the majority of people think lawncare providers are just "mow boys" and that's it. When you have a flyer that's full color, glossy and just looks good, this can have a negative respose. I heard comments like "wow, thats a good looking flyer, he must have a huge outfit and charges a lot". 30,000 flyers and only about 30 calls. Most were one time jobs and picked up 2 mowing accounts and THAT'S IT!!! This years fliers are going to be on yellow paper and black print. To save money I might just put them on 1/2 sheets. Better to go cheap and do many. That's my .02

I have been doing my flyers on just half a page always. I have never used color either. I figured most geat trashed so why bother and waste money. Yellow paper. I don't know about that. I am going to look into the site yall mentioned. I just dont want to risk all the time, effort, and money and then bang the advertising time is gone and I made a huge mistake doing other than what I normally do.

    Hi outrunjason,

Why not try a few things out and test them.
Try some flyers with your name at top.
Then try some with a price.
Then try some with the services you offer at top.
See which ones get the best return and go with them.
