This will be my first year spraying lawns for broadleaf weeds. What type of masks are you guys using? Also, are any of you using the disposable type gloves for herbicide apps.? Just got my pest. license last May and wanting to be safe! Thanks.

Move to organics, you may still need the mask if you are spraying mist, never good to inhale mist but you will smell better and be less toxic when you go home

Was there a question on the test about PPE ? Do not use disposable gloves, or dishwashing gloves. If you do you will have to wear a mask so people won't see you

well i came across some chemical resistant disposable gloves is the reason i asked about that...im not talkin about crap from the drugstore..im not an idiot..the idea of putting on a new, clean pair of gloves for every app. sounds a bit safer to me

No mask. If you need a mask while spraying today's lawn chemicals, you are doing something wrong. Generation of respirable particles means movement off target of pesticides. I say today's lawn chemicals because in another time, I used to apply Daconil, Diazinon, Dursban or Turcam to lawns. The labels did not mandate respirators, but I knew better. Which is why I am still around. Gloves, I use the green nitrile gloves that goes up to my elbows. Lastly, I will not spray in trendy shoes, or macho-wacho hiking/construction worker boots. I have always worn knee length rubber boots. Long pants of course and a button down tight weave long sleeve shirt. I am in the tropics, but any kind of t shirt feels like a sweater to me outdoors in the sun.

I agree with this, and i will add that this year after 4 years of dealing with a yellow face and sore throats I am using a face mask with granular premergents.

A properly fitted half-face respirator with dust-mist filter cartridges if you want to wear one. Just be sure to store it properly.

Nitrile is great for gloves. Gloves with cloth/cotton liners are not chem-resistant. The lining is designed to absorb sweat/water and just as easily absorbs chemicals. When it does that, the product is then sitting in the glove against your skin with nowhere to go but into you. Also, your local pesticide inspector may end up having a long chat with you if they (actually) see you using them. Not sure what your state's OSHA does but they are all over that kind of stuff here when they find it.

Bingo..I love spraying (per say) herbs ets just know when the wind kicks up make the droplets larger or stop...No mask needed.

What gloves do you guys use? Was using the green nitrile. Was looking for something that was not green. Found some blacks one but they are spendy.
