The RedMax salesman explained to me that the gear head is designed to do away with problems associated with extending your line out longer than recommended by the manufacturer. He also explained that because of this feature, a brush blade cannot be put on these trimmers.

Any product that's not made in India, China, Taiwan, or Vietnam is a welcome addition in my opinion. :D
There is no commercial grade 2 stroke equipment out there. For some reason americans can not build a quality 2 stroke? Its the same with motorcycles, if its a 4 stroke road bike, amercians build it fine, but any 2 stroke dirt bike and we can not compete.

Plus if you look at all the countries and their products, work ethic, quality of their products, and innovation, amercians come up way short compared to most other nations. Some may say we are lazy, but I think it is mainly most amercian workers are not really concerned with the product they are building, as long as nothing impedes on their little lives, they could care less about most anything. In other countries, the workers actually take alot of pride in their products and even put their jobs ahead of their families in importance!

No body beats innovation of Americans. Problem is they expect to get pay more. The American company finally realize it is cheaper to out source to the other countries to lower the cost.

True, the people in other countries willing to work harder because their lifelyhood depend on it. We have obummer spreading the wealth:laugh::laugh:......Kidding!!! But it is true that people here don't have to work and still can collect welfare, so there is no incentive to work that hard.

Since this thread is suppose to be about RedMax, I'm going to speculate
and say that the drive assembly is made in USA and the engine is made
in Japan. I'm basing this hunch on a RedMax sticker I saw somewhere that
said "Engine Made In Japan."
