just a question for you guys i was wondering what methods you guys use to measure landscape bed for mulch? do you just measure the length then the width to figure you square footage? do you take in a count for plant in the bed if so how do you? thanks

For bidding purposes or actually figuring out the amount of mulch to install?

Fo bidding I take the largest width area (unless it is A LOT wider than the rest of the bed) and the length to find out how many CY's I will price out.

For installing take all measurements to get a better idea of how much you will be installing, I never subtract for plants.

We measure all beds l x w x d= sq ft then divide that by 324 and get your cubic yards. Sometimes it works out great and then other times not so great

If you use bag mulch.... Lengths x width= square feet. 14 bags of mulch will cover 180 sf @ a 2" depth.

Are you laying at a consistant depth?

That was a big problem for us, one of our guys would go from 3" to 6" in a hurry if you didn't keep an eye on him.

    Length x width divided by 270 = 2to 2.5" refresh every time
