You are a Lawn Pro stalker aren't you?
I did have a few problems, but they're not that bad.
Dead lawns = many cancellations for cuts this week. Normally I wouldn't mind too much but it seems NO ONE has coin around for landscape jobs. We more than doubled our advertising for the year, resulting in about a 25% increase in new customers requesting estimates for landscaping but we have a net drop in work because few seem to be willing to part with the $. We've even lowered our prices a bit in an attempt to land jobs, none below our costs but nothing to grow the business much.
Is this what everyone else is seeing or am I in the minority here? If this keeps up I may be looking for something else for $. Is there a market for man-whores here?
I'd say we skipped almost half our stuff this week. If it was just short and "didn't really need it" we may have cut anyways, but many lawns were so dry that running the mower over them would leave stripes of dead grass where the wheels ran.
We had a great spring and kept very busy, but everything seems to have dried up now! A few calls here and there for small $100 jobs, but nothing great to speak of.
On the bright side, this time can be used to plan for winter, fix stuff up, get caught up on stuff, etc. So, we'll use it wisely and keep waiting for some rain I guess.
Is anyone certified thru MNLA/MCN in any fields?
I'm signing up next week for the LMS (landscape maintenance specialist ) and maybe going back for the Retail Specialist
Are you already a certified nurseryman?
I was also wanting to take the tests, well the MCN and LMS anyways. I do not have enough time though, still need to make some dough. Maybe this winter.
Hey guys we can also say that we skiped a few lawns this week.. but on another hand did a small $200 dollor job yesterday and picked up his lawn too for the rest of the year, hope none of you guys were the ones cutting it, he didn't know who cut it and they were doing a SUPER HACK job at it didn't edge and didn't trim, well they did trim but they must be blind... have a good rest of the day guys off to get me a new tire for the mower.
Looks like lawns are going to be slow this week, luckily I have alot of bush trims to do
Got a call from a friend who saw someone busted for applying fert without a license in Taylor. Tow truck took a trailer loaded with gear. Magnetic signs were taken off the truck too.
Make sure all your guys are wearing safety glasses. Had a nice little visit from Osha yesterday while I was out cutting one of my commercial properties. He told one of my guys that it was a $1,500 fine for not wearing eye protection. I think that is a little high for that but that is what he said. Just giving you guys a heads up
