Mini-Z Belt Question

I have a 2004 Hustler Mini-Z and the belt popped off today. This was the first time I've had to really look at the belt. I can't find my owners manual but believe I resecured it properly by placing the small chain (found loose) in the tension spring and securing it in an available. Question - does tension hold the chain in place, or is there some other mechanism that I'm missing?

By the looks of the bend on top of that bracket I would say nothing is missing.

Looks good, but mine also fell off so I made it tighter by one chain length. This in turn made my cut better.

It looks just the way it should to me. I would try tightening it by one length as well, may smooth the decks operating vibrations and noise out some.

My old Hustler works that way.

We have used this tensioner method for over 30 years.
    You have it on correctly.
Like mentioned above, check your belt tension, if you feel it needs to be tighter, just take up another link in the chain.
