i havent looked at my rack in awhile cause i got a new trailer with green touch racks, but if i remember right, there is a hole near the top of the rack. Then you put the wire through it and crimp it with those little metal clamps. then on the other end you should have the pin with the little roller bearing to put to secure the backpack. does that help?

MIne doesn't have a hole either. I just looped around the pin and crimped it tight so the lanyard doesn't slip off. So far, so good.

Drilled a small hole thru the top, seems to work.

Kevin, I just got mine last week. You have to drill a small hole in the top to allow the cable to attach. In my opinion you need a longer cable on it.
