ya shoulda seen it 3 yrs ago...all woods pretty much.
i removed the jasmine in the center of the yard with a sod cutter.
a placed it along the perimeter.cut down trees grind ed stumps.
i limbed the magnolias up.i then layed 8 palettes of st augustine.
and now im slowly adding plants.lots of hydrangea, hostas, azaleas,
ginger,lilies,aggapanthas,etc.
ive done all this completely alone!not one lick of help or labor from anyone else.cept verbal advice.
i still have some work to do to fix a few errors.i had runoff issues that about removed all the topsoil from the sod.still nursing it back slowly.
i really proud of it though as u can see
ok, finally have time to post....been working in Long Beach painting and landscaping and we are finally finished. This wasn't my job, I was working as a helper for a friend. Made a few dollars and learned ALOT in landscaping. It turned out real well and the homeowners loved it. Also got 40 names and numbers for yards to be mowed in Vancleave...my friend gave me them and they were given to her by a guy who just retired. I hope I score a few.
Well that's why I've been away, gotta catch up on my other posts...
You seem to know a lot about landscaping, Pat. Did you go to school or self taught? I am considering going to mgccc to get a trade degree or certificate (whatever it is) in landscaping mgt. It's self paced and will take about 1 and half to 2 years to finish. Not dead set on it though.
As I said before, your yard is nice..... just tryin' to figure out where exactly it is....
What's up yardman1, how are things in Hattiesburg?
Elephant nest... Did claudette get you? Hope not...
Claudette misssed us, thank God. Haven't had too much clean up, just been busy trying to stay ahead of the rains. More coming today....see ya! Hope all is well with you local boys, stay dry!!
hi eddie
no im self taught and my neighbors kid has a horticulture degree from miss state.i ask him tons of questions.
im also considering going to the local jr collage for a landscape design program.i wanna be a licensed landscaper soooo bad.
first thing though is to get me a fert license. im lookin into that now.

btw
i was contacted thru lawnsite by a guy in gulfport who needed labor on a mulchjob here in O.S.
i gave him your lawnsite ID and told him to contact ya.
did he?
hope ya dont mind.
no he didn't contact me Pat , but thanks. I was just in Fort Bayou yesterday. That is where my dissatisfied customer was. Do you want the account?haha Maybe we can use reverse psychology on him. You can bash me and maybe he will pay you a good amount just for agreeing with him...haha I am going to hand out more fliers today in Gautier...seems to be a good spot so far. I've already excepted that this season is going to be a learning process and a lot of money will be put back into the biz....Next season is gonna rock.

Hey just checking in....business is sucking right now, lost 2 accounts for no apparent reason. I guess they got a better price.I dunno.... I'm still optimistic but it sure is harder than I thought to get up some clientel. All I can do is keep trying. How's business going for you , Pat?
I hear ya pat, I think we should have started in april and we would have more accounts.... I'm sticking with my plan to go to mgccc and take heating and a/c repair this fall. I decided against landscaping mgt. after i weighed all the pros and cons, just seemed like I would make more money in the long run with less overhead. A friend of mine is in that field and he is doing pretty good for himself. You might know him...Wray Simpkins, think he graduated in '88. I will still do LCO on the side while I am in school. Luckily for you , you have cash in the bank and can afford this slow spell. Unfortunately, I have to get a rinky dink night job or it's back to the casino... I'll take the rinky dink job!haha
Can't wait for the day I get new equipment....nice stuff elephant.
You must be doing better than Pat and I are. This rain has broke me, had to get a night job. We will see how long it has to last. Hopefully, not long. I'm going to cut and sell firewood in the winter.Good money there.
Pat, sorry to hear that, but I understand. Hang in there, remember, we are new to this biz. I have learned a lot in 2 months and like I said before, next year will be 10 times better because we will be better prepared from what we learned this year. If you have to go back and work for the man, then that's what you gotta do. Guess what, the Beau Rivage is hiring dealers and boxpersons....good money there, right? I took a pizza delivery job over that....that's how much I hate the casinos! I have worked 2 days so far at 10 hrs:$70 in tips at $5.25 hr + 5% commision on sales and milage. making about $12 - $14 an hour, just a little under what I was making at Treasure Bay.Free pizza too...haha I sure hope some people start calling soon.....
