# Mixing Question

Suppose for some reason you want to mix and apply two chemicals together. One is labeled, "Add entire contents of this container to 8 gal water," the other, "Add contents to 12 gal water."

You would put your mixture of the two concentrates into how much water?

If A says 4 oz to 4 gallons and B says 4 oz to 8 gallons

You put 1 oz per gallon of A, and .5 oz per gallon of B

Simple Algebra.

I have no idea the chemical or coverage area you're dealing with. But, 8 is 2/3 of 12.

I'm mixing an additive that only tells me to mix 17#'s/100gals.. I'm only mixing 25gal. at a time. I just do quick division and add in 4.25#'s to my tank.

Use 8 gals water. Then for the second product use 8/12 as much product. (That is 2/3 of the jug.)
Naturally, you will have 1/3 of the second product left over for next time.

My numbers were hypothetical but the principle was critical because my college-kid employee wanted to, in effect, make up each dilution and then combine them. I figured that procedure would over-dilute but he knows everything.

I just figure out how much AI and ad mixture is required for each gallon of mix. Then, I figure out how many gallons I'll need and multiply.

You're always dealing with equal numbers of mix, this way.

If you know (___oz) of AI is needed for 12gallons, you can divide by 12 to figure out how much is needed per gallon of mix. If your app. requires you to mix 10 gallons, you can simply multiply by 10 (AI oz. req'd).

Only place I can see this getting "sticky" is when you're figuring how much surfactant to add. You wouldn't want to double-up.

This is all assuming the ad-mixtures are compatible.
