Time to bring this thread back to the top.

Looks like I will be adding a water tank to the arsenal next year. Since we had such a dry summer this year, I figure that if I get a tank set up, it will be very wet next year :). Any idea where to find these things locally? I know that Northern carries them but shipping is like 50-60 percent of the item's cost because it has to go Truck Freight. Plus I just prefer to buy things local.

I am also going to invest in some Tree Gators. Whats the life expectancy of these things? A few seasons?

Around here we have something called Farm and Fleet. Also, Tractor Supply. If you don't have a farmers mega toy store then try an implement dealer like John Deere etc.. As for the gators, its like anything else as to how you care for them, neighbor kids stealing them, wind blowing them off ...In a perfect setup you could expect 4 to 5 years.

Thanks for the tip. I do have a Tractor Supply Co about 45 minutes from me. Never been there though. Sounds like I should get in contact wth them.

Arround here I saw a couple stake beds with tanks on them that can also be used for spraying chems. on commercial properties. I also saw someone using an old fire pumper. I ws in AZ last week and saw a ton of trucks spraying. Thay all looked like the small gas tankers but for water only.
I thought the old fire truck was a good idea. Thay prolly picked it up at an auction or a junkyard real cheep and fixed it up. thay are made to hold a LOT of water w/o having to constantly re-fill or stress the truck much.
It all depends on how much you are willing to spend. and how much weight you can carry. Water is quite heavy.

I was wondering how much water does each tree need? Seems like a futile effort to me.
