I have a customer that would like me to move a 3 foot high holly. How much would you guys charge to dig it up and move it? I live in CT.

Consider what you would charge if you were doing the initial planting. Rule of Thumb is take the retail price, double it (shrub and install).

So if the 3' Holly were to costs $69 new, then charge $69 to move it.

Some folks take and double their whole sale costs for the total shrub and install total. Others will take full retail for the shrub and add 90% of retail costs as their install portion.

This method has served me well. Just make sure it's a plant that is as easy to transplant as it is to initially install. A 3' Holly should come out rather easily.

Don't move it on a hot day. Explain to the customer the importance of watering it in. Get a sufficient amount of donor soil from the original site for the new site.
