After how many cuts do you get your mower blade sharpened?
Every 8 hours of use
That is a better measure. I read once that Rutgers did a study finding that blades stayed sharp for about 4 hours of use. But of course I have not been able to find this study for myself.
Other factors include height of grass, mulching, bagging, and side discharge.
I have mine sharpened/balanced every 15 hours of use.
At the end of the week, all blades get sharpened.
I guess the 9 of us are the only ones that sharpen our blades. Come on, if your going to look at the poll why not vote. The blade sharpening police aren't going to show up at your house if you vote........
I am only a homewoner but this year I decided to do it about once a month. I went to HD and picked up a mower blade stone for my drill to get out the big dings and a file for the rest
I vote 4 cuts which is about 4 to 8 hrs depending on wether I cut any of the neighbors or not.
The post mentioing "Why not chime in as long as your reading this" is the one that sucked me in. Good call "lawnstriper23".
Every morning, sometimes we shag but never in spring grasses.
the X calibur mulch blades seem to hold up the best for me.
