I am in the market for a push mower for just under 1/2 acre. My number one problem is Acorns, and lots of them. Will any mower, without breaking the bank, pick up at least some of the acorns?

A mower isn't really the tool for picking up acorns. You may be able to pick up the husks and the cuplike bases somewhat but the nuts are pretty dense and don't pick up well with any mower I know of. A powerful backpack blower does a decent job.

I was going to suggest the same thing. I have a huge hickory tree in the front of the property that dumps a ton of hickory nuts each year. I use my backpack blower to corral them into a pile then just scoop them up with a big corn shovel.

I have the same problem. I doubt you'll find a cheap mower but roller nut harvesters are pretty cheap.

Now if they only made one 2-3 feet wide. I literally have a carpet of acorns. I know I am not going to find a mower to cure the problem, but since I need to buy a mower I am hoping to find one that does better than another.

Now if I could get one of these:

Hmmm?

I use a homeowner style blower on my one giant oak and it works fine. Probably takes me about 30-45 minutes to blow all of them into a pile and then scoop them up with a rake and broom/shovel. I think a pro-style blower will do the best job. Unless the turf you are on is perfect, I cannot see any tool being able to get them all up. The blowers are amazing and have some nice additional benefits of fluffing up the lawn and exposing any bare spots that may be on the lawn.
