I am in the market for a push mower for just under 1/2 acre. My number one problem is Acorns, and lots of them. Will any mower, without breaking the bank, pick up at least some of the acorns?
I was going to suggest the same thing. I have a huge hickory tree in the front of the property that dumps a ton of hickory nuts each year. I use my backpack blower to corral them into a pile then just scoop them up with a big corn shovel.A mower isn't really the tool for picking up acorns. You may be able to pick up the husks and the cuplike bases somewhat but the nuts are pretty dense and don't pick up well with any mower I know of. A powerful backpack blower does a decent job.
Now if they only made one 2-3 feet wide. I literally have a carpet of acorns. I know I am not going to find a mower to cure the problem, but since I need to buy a mower I am hoping to find one that does better than another.I have the same problem. I doubt you'll find a cheap mower but roller nut harvesters are pretty cheap.

Somebody on here oughta be able to figure out how to gang about 4-6 of those together. Don't think it would be that hard to do.I have the same problem. I doubt you'll find a cheap mower but roller nut harvesters are pretty cheap.

There is a pistol range that use that exact equipment to pick up shells. As far as acorns, Deer loves acorns, especially by Langtry Texas area.I like this one better!
