mowing short with a ztr

    how do u prevent scalping when mowing short with a ztr. i mow high and the grass pushes (lays)down.
    high mowing doesn't strip well

    Cut it high on one pass and then lower on the next pass. You can also get high lift blades or use double blades to lift the grass up when you go over it.

    What is short in inches? You may not be able to do both if you cut too low and your deck is wide on uneven lawns, ditches, etc. I big ZTR is not the best for badly uneven lawns. You can always use a smaller mower for the difficult areas such as ditches, ridges, etc. I see alot use the two mower approach or even three.
