I just picked up a MTD Mutli-vac for free. It needs a new coil but i don't know who made the engine. Does anuone know who makes the engines for the MTD multi-vacs?
  2. most likely a Briggs and Stratton-look on the shroud and you should find a plate with make etc. stamped on it. Should be the same for Tecumseh engines

BTW-just curious, are you sure it needs a coil?

It's pretty common for small engines to develope a short across the kill switch and result in a no spark/no start condition. Far more common than a coil going west.
