Mulch Weight

    I was wondering what the approx weight of 1 cubic yard of mulch is. I am buying a 5 x 10 trailer with a 3500lb axil so i need to know how much i cacn put on. Thanks

    I have the same trailer. I got a yard of colored mulch and it was all on the front end. I was able to move it. I have heard mulch weighs 6-800# I thought that yard of mulch I got was about 75# I think I got screwed. I also have gotten hardwood. That weighed about 100# in a 35 gallon trash bag.

    I was gonna say around 700#.....I maxed out my single axle 3500# trailer with 3 yards.

    I now have a tandem trailer that will carry 5+ yards.

    I put 16 yards of wet triple ground hardwood on my 16' gooseneck dump and the lift wouldn't raise it until it was half unloaded. It was very very heavy!!!!

    16*700=11,200
    Truck =6800 (scaled)
    Trailer =4100 (scaled)
    ________________
    22,100 lbs with my Dodge turbo diesel

    Rule of thumb, Mulch 800# per cubic yd.
    Average 1/2 ton and over pick up will only hold 2 yards because of volume and that needs to packed into the corners and packed down.
