Mulch

We have met them at the expo we attended earlier this year. Basically, all the stuff is... is mulch that is organic and incorporated w/horse manure. They have heated it up and composted it to create a nice mulch product. Horse manure is the best thing you can use on your gardens and beds... only the older more decomposed manure however. It is very dark and decomposes to a rich black color over time. So, just a little inside info. Nothing more than someone who capitalized on a great concept of incorporating a soil into a mulch idea from that basic process.

A mulch like you are talking about has been popular in Cincinnati for years now. The mulch is so much like dirt, if you put it down now. By August you have not much of anything left.
One word of caution. Around here they use to also put manure in it but found it got something called "shotgun fungus" The fungus would spread to house siding, painted surface even cars and nothing would wash it off. Know of some people that had to get their car repainted. The mulch people I deal with no longer puts manure in.

Just noticed you are from NY state. The place that makes the "black mulch" for us here in Ohio told me the only place it sells is in Cincinnati, and in an area of NY state. We use to have a store in Ky and could not give the stuff away.
The cost of such a mulch here in Cincinnati is only like $24 a yard.
