Mulching pellets / Water retention / Seed starter

    What are you guys using? I have seen penn mulch and a couple others. Just trying to determine if there is much different in all of them.

    It is going to depend on the water retention ability of the soilat hand... it will also have variable degrees of usefullness depending on the material you'll want to grow in it...

    What is it about "Penn Mulch" that makes it the focal point of this thread???

    Good question, which is best? For seeding--for overseeding: No soil prep? Penn mulch? Slit seeding? Double aeration? Double seed rate? Topdress? Compost? Straw? Hydromulch?

    Would you mind? Try them all as a comparison, then tell us what happened. Get photos.

    OK maybe I can try a few of these on bare soil in tiny little flower pots. Full scale tests with side by side comparisons would be a major research project. Thinking-suggestions welcome.
