Looking to add a 36" walk behind to my arsenal this year with bagger and possibly a sulky. I am interested in acquiring one to get into the back yards with gates and other tight areas that my Z wont be able to slip through. Not really interested in pushing the 21" and eat up loads more time at a property. What are the diff's b/t hydro static (are they always dual hydro?) and belt drive? (besides price). Is durability and quality of cut the same? Again, looking for a good priced 36" walk behind with bagger, sulky, and leaves a nice clean cut. Budget will vary depending on if i get a used or new ofc. Please lemme know what you guys would go with and why!
I would say get a ferris 32/26 they are single hydro but work great, daul hydro will be more expense, stay away from belt drive(dont have to explain), if money is no object get the exmark turf tracer 36, dual hydro, floating deck, enough said. If you search on lawnsire you will find tons of info on 36 wb.
I run an exmark metro 36" and 48" they are belt drive. I like the belts they are cheaper and easier to maintain than hydro. my father runs bobcat walk behinds has 1 hydro 1 belt. he likes them both. Neither of us use a sulky i dont mind walking a little bit. the floating deck is something that i dont like. i prefer the solid deck i can easily push down in the handles and lift the deck to go over objects. i ordered my bagger from rack'em
Used to run a John Deere G15 belt drive 36 and absolutely loved it had 0 problems with it not even in wet grass conditions. Have a 48" hustler trimstar now that I inherited with the company, the operation of the hydro is quicker when you have to backup or maneuver but the price difference is enough to warrant the belt drive. It really depends on how much you plan to use that unit.
For 1500-2000 you can get a decent belt drive you would probably have to spend maybe 2500-3000 for a used hydro if you want something with low hours etc.
Go & measure your gates...then afterwards compare with manufacturer's data as most 36" mowers are 37-38"+. Personally, I've got 9 gates that would only allow a 32 mower through...making a 36 a silly move. Big backyards past those gates, too. Best of luck!
I have a gravely 36in dual hydro walk behind with the pro steer controls. The controls are a little tricky to get used to but really do speed you up once you get the hang of them. Its a very solid unit so far.
I'm in Southern Indiana and found that same mower in like September in Nashville's Craigs, bout 100+ miles from me and never got a response back.. Something weird with that one
I remember the exact same ad in nashville cl also. Everything was the same with the youtube video also. I emailed twice and never got a response back.
