I am looking into purchasing a lawn care business that grosses 5k per month. I can complete the work in 60 man hours without much trouble. Not much equipment included. Any opinions on a fair purchase price, or at least a starting point would be appreciated.

It depends on what kind of equipment your are getting with the purchase. Everyone has their own opinion on how to price it. I have seen businesses purchased for whatever it grossed for 2 months. Me personally I would not give some one all the money up front in case some clients do not like the idea of a new owner. Based on how many clients stayed throughout the season would determine what the final payment would be.

I have heard the norm is 2 month gross, have the equipment checked over and ask bout going round to meet customers and make sure they want to stay with you. He could havebeen charging less and not making full potential, 5k sounds low to me to 60 customers
