Hey guys I have a 36" belt drive John Deere walk behind mower and think I need a new engine. It has the 14 horse Kawasaki engine and when looking online it looks like the new way to go is with a 15 horse Kaw. My question is, how do I know which 15 horse will work? I know to check the size of the crank and everything, but what about hooking like the throttle cable up etc.?

I think the engine on it now (I'm not by the mower right now, I will look tomorrow) is an FC420V.

Would an engine like this work as well?

    Thanks for any help

There are usually a series of engines from a manufactuerer that are the same bolt up with just the HP varying. If an ebay seller is a dealer he could give you that info_Otherwise you will have to go to the engine site and check the specs.

Sorry I forgot that one thing. No, it is not an electric start.

Thanks for the help guys, I might hold off for awhile, I never use the mower but would like it to at least run. Also, I did check and the engine is an FC420V.
