I have a lawn customer who asked me about adjusting her sprinkler heads for her. Its a rainbird system and she told me the last guy was able to adjust the spray pattern by adjusting a screw on the top of the sprinkler head. Is it really that simple? She'll be turning on the system for the first time this season and just wants to make sure every thing is still running good. Any advice other then call an Irrigation company?

Some RB heads can be adjusted with just a screw on the top. What kind of adjustment depends on the head. A spray nozzle will only adjust throw with the top screw while a VAN nozzle will have the top screw and an adjustable arc, changed by "screwing" the piece at bottom of nozzle, one way or the other, top screw still adjusts throw.

Rotors can adjust throw and arc with screws on top of the head.

What kind of heads does she have?
What is the system is running well, instead of good?
