I'm in the process of refining how and when I pay my employees. Would anyone be willing to share your thoughts on how to write out an employee compensation policy? I'm looking for details on items such as payscales for laborers, foremen and managers. Thoughts on annual reviews, what criteria do you base raises upon and so forth. My goal is to create a simple policy that can go into the empoyee handbook thus eliminating a percieved randomness of raises, promotions ect. I simply don't have time or a desire to explain or justify why one employee received a raise and another employee did not. However I do understand their need to know the details of how they are paid and how they can earn higher wages.
